OWEN SOUND, August 2026- Community Foundation Grey Bruce (CFGB) is celebrating students across Grey and Bruce counties receiving support for their education and training.

So far in 2026, 96 education awards totaling $141,369 have been awarded to students pursuing university, college, skilled trades, apprenticeships and other educational opportunities.

Students can receive support in several ways. Many apply through CFGB’s annual intake, while other awards are selected by participating high schools throughout Grey and Bruce counties.

Interest was especially strong this year, with 100 students submitting 304 applications for 31 scholarship opportunities. Compared to 2025, student applicants increased by 61.3% and total applications increased by 14.7%.

Recipients are pursuing a wide range of paths, including healthcare, agriculture, skilled trades, music, visual arts, media, education, and science.

For students receiving these awards, the support can make a meaningful difference. One recipient shared:

“This will help so much with my education and create opportunities that would otherwise be limited due to financial constraints.”

Another shared:

“Receiving this email about the bonus made me so joyful that I started to cry. I just wanted to say thank you so much once again. This has done so much for me.”

CFGB thanks the 18 volunteer reviewers, schools, donors and fundholders who help make these education opportunities possible.

Education funds held at Community Foundation Grey Bruce provide lasting support for local students. Individuals, families and organizations can contribute to an existing fund or establish their own to support future generations.
