2026 Spring Community Grants
Community Foundation Grey Bruce (CFGB) is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2026 Spring Community Grants program. This year, $215,275 was awarded to 52 charitable and community-based projects across Grey and Bruce Counties.
Interest in the program continued to grow in 2026, with CFGB receiving 75 applications requesting a combined $320,194.46 in funding. The strong response reflects both the growing needs within our communities and the innovative ways local organizations are working to address them.
The funded projects represent a wide range of community priorities, including arts and culture, environmental stewardship, youth engagement, mental wellness, accessibility, food security, reconciliation, and community connection. Grants will support initiatives in communities across the region, from Tobermory and Lion's Head to Kincardine, Lucknow, Dundalk, Meaford, Hanover, and Owen Sound.
Several themes emerged during this year's grant review process, including increasing efforts to strengthen mental health supports, create welcoming and inclusive community spaces, promote environmental sustainability, and foster meaningful connections between residents.
A sample of funded projects includes:
• Bruce Wildlife Help's Wildlife Transport & Response Pilot Program, improving access to licensed wildlife rehabilitators across Grey and Bruce Counties.
• Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce's Social Recreation Summer Baseball program, creating inclusive recreational opportunities for individuals living with mental health and recovery challenges.
• Participation Lodge Grey Bruce's Indigenous Medicine Garden, supporting cultural learning, understanding, and community connection.
• Bruce County Public Library's Discovery Backpacks, combining literacy and hands-on learning opportunities for children.
• Huron Shores Hospice's Wings of Remembrance project, creating a butterfly garden and memorial release experience for families and community members.
• Intersections Wood Collaborative's Wood Symposium, bringing together beginner and experienced woodworkers through workshops, demonstrations, and artistic exchange.
• South Grey Chamber of Commerce's Hopeville Kite Festival Family Fun Zone Activities, increasing accessibility and participation for families attending the popular community event.
"Every application tells a story about people working to make their communities stronger," said Stuart Reid, Executive Director of Community Foundation Grey Bruce. "This year's projects demonstrate creativity, collaboration, and commitment that exist across Grey and Bruce. We are grateful to our volunteers, donors, and community partners who make these grants possible and help create lasting impact throughout the region."
