The Fallis Art Scholarship Fund

Applicants must have been accepted to a first-year fine arts or visual arts program at a post-secondary institution. The program may be at a college, university or a recognized art academy. The scholarship may not be awarded more than once to any applicant.

Requirements

Three (3) original works of art that reflect their area of study and career path for the jurors to consider. The art works must not be copies of another artist's, or reproductions. All works must be labeled with the artist's name, title of work, date and medium. A letter must accompany the submission of art work and include the following: - the applicant's career objectives - social insurance number - a letter confirming acceptance and registration in a first- year fine arts, visual arts, media arts or applied arts program at a post-secondary institution - a current CV Send digital images of artworks to info@durhamart.on.ca with Subject: Fallis Scholarship Application, along with requirements as set out above.  

  1. Still images must be either JPEG or TIFF files, maximum dimensions of 1024 x 768 at 72 dpi. Images must be correctly rotated for viewing.
  2. Each file must be named as applicant's Lastname_Firstname_xx.ext.

(Example: 1st image: Chap_Elaine_01.tif, 2nd image: Chap_Elaine_02.tif, etc.)

  1. File sizes larger than 3 MB will not be accepted.

Notification & Presentation of Award The Durham Art Gallery will notify the successful applicant after an ad hoc committee of three jurors has made their decision. The award will be presented and paid to the successful applicant by the Gallery. *The Fund will be administered by the Gallery's staff. * Payment terms: $1,500 paid upon announcement; $1,500 paid upon confirmation of enrollment in classes.
