Robert White Social Justice Award

This award is named after Robert White, Past President of CAW and Canadian Labour Congress. The Grey Bruce Labour Council sponsors this award available to graduating students in the Grey Bruce area.

The Grey Bruce Labour Council supports a bursary for graduating secondary school students from Grey and Bruce County. Up to 5 students may share in the $1500 annual award.  Applications are accepted in April and May each year with the deadline of June 1.  In order to qualify the students must demonstrate involvement in the promotion of activities that promote the values of social justice in the betterment of their community.

A 300 word essay will be required describing the student's social justice work on issues such as (but not limited to) women's issues, labour activism, native issues, the environment and Third World development.

Requirements

Eligibility:

  • All graduating high school students throughout Bruce and Grey are eligible to submit an application

Criteria:

  • Applicants must write a 300 word essay to accompany the application

Process:

  • Five students from Bruce and Grey counties will be selected as award winners
