Bruce Power Scholarships

Bruce Power offers Post-Secondary Scholarships to support students from Bruce, Grey, and Huron counties who are pursuing post-secondary education. These scholarships are designed to assist students enrolled in university, college, skilled trades, and other recognized post-secondary pathways during the 2025/26 academic year.

For the 2025 scholarship year, Bruce Power will award 100 scholarships valued at $500 each. The 2025 application window is now closed. All applicants will be notified of the outcome by July 15, 2025, and applicants are asked not to contact Bruce Power prior to this date.

Requirements

  • Applicants must provide proof of:
  • Registration in an accredited post-secondary program for the fall term
  • Residency in Bruce, Grey, or Huron County (or residency of immediate family—parents or guardians)

Scholarship Distribution
For the 2025/26 academic year, scholarships are allocated as follows:

  • 40 scholarships for students enrolled full-time in a university degree program
  • 35 scholarships for students enrolled full-time in a recognized college, technical institute, or skilled trades program
  • 15 scholarships for students who self-identify as part of a diverse population
  • 10 scholarships for students eligible for special consideration

Special Consideration

Special consideration may be given to applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Graduate students pursuing advanced post-secondary credentials
  • First-generation students whose parents have not participated in post-secondary education (verification required)
  • Current or former Ontario Crown wards (documentation required)
  • Mature students (30 years of age or older) returning to post-secondary education due to life circumstances such as retraining, caregiving, or completion of a previously started program

Selection Process

  • A committee of Bruce Power employees and union representatives reviews all applications and selects recipients in each of the granting areas. Successful applicants are contacted directly by July 15, 2025.

Eligibility

Scholarships are available to students enrolled full-time in the following post-secondary pathways:

  • University degree programs
  • Community or technical college programs, including skilled trades
  • Graduate studies (master’s, PhD, or postgraduate certificates)
  • A portion of scholarships is reserved for applicants who voluntarily self-identify as members of designated or diverse populations, including persons with disabilities, Indigenous students, and members of visible minorities.

Ineligibility

  • Students who have previously received a Bruce Power Post-Secondary Scholarship are not eligible to reapply.
