We Tackle Pressing Issues
We believe philanthropy has a role to play in addressing some of the most pressing issues of our time. We tackle tough problems on many fronts through our grantmaking, investments, research, convening, communication and participation in the public policy process. We work with other foundations, organizations, business and governments in our region and across the country on problems that require shared action.

Verona Jackson & Lyle Love Honoured

Community Foundation Grey Bruce extend a hearty congratulations to two long-serving Foundation patrons on recently being recognized with Canada 150 Molson Canadian Community Leader Awards.

Verona Jackson and her husband Ovid created a fund with the Foundation to support local job creation and innovation. Her nomination for the Community Leader Award highlights that she was a founding member of the Bluewater Association for Lifelong Learning and has raised funds for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Victorian Order of Nurses and regional health centre campaigns. A champion of many causes, Verona was also a founding member of the local Big Sisters chapter and was proud to have chaired a number of Heart & Stroke Foundation activities.

Lyle Love was a founding member of Community Foundation Grey Bruce, served on its board for many years and remains involved as an Ambassador. He was the lead volunteer for the public fundraising campaign for Grey Roots, a contributing member of Owen Sound’s Grey Granite Curling Club and is a member of Owen Sound’s Silver C's. As part of the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer for 25 years, Love was the key driver for many of its projects, including the outdoor rink/basketball court at Harrison Park and splash pad at Kelso Beach.

Other Owen Sound area volunteers recognized with the Canada 150 Molson Canadian Community Leader Awards included Blaine Courtney and Fred Wallace. Congratulations to all on this special recognition, your love of community and desire to give back.
