Endowment Building and Donor Service

The Community Foundation focuses on building permanent endowments and meeting both long-term and immediate community challenges and needs.

At one time in Community Foundation history, planned gifting through a will or an estate carried out the bulk of the endowment building role. However, there has now been a significant shift to endowment funds by living donors as people take an active role in deciding where their fund can most contribute in the community.

To assist donors with the steps involved in creating an endowment fund, Community Foundation Grey Bruce provides the services of a Donor Relations Coordinator. The Coordinator will personally meet with a perspective donor to determine the needs and direction that their fund could take. She will explain the differences between funds and help the donor to set up the most suitable individual choice. The investment history of endowment funds and the donor’s tax advantages will be detailed.
