Guidelines For Grant Seekers

Background

The Mission Statement of the Community Foundation Grey Bruce:

The Community Foundation Grey Bruce exists to enrich the quality of life of the people of the Community by supporting charitable, educational, and cultural organizations.

The Foundation received Charitable Status in December 1994, after two years of study and development. Since January 1995, the Community Foundation was able to receive funds, which are held in perpetuity. The income only from the funds will be spent. Funds come from donations/bequests/fundraising. Each year as the pool of funds and the income grow, the grant making ability of the Community Foundation will increase.

Georgraphic Area

  • The Community Foundation serves the Counties of Grey and Bruce.

Granting Priorities

Grants are made to charitable organizations recognized by Revenue Canada as registered charities. (Groups without charitable registration may be sponsored by a registered organization, provided the sponsoring body agrees to be jointly accountable with the applicant for the use of the grant with signed legal documentation.) Note: approved grants will not exceed $500 per organization.

The Community Foundation supports registered groups providing endeavors that will enrich the quality of life in all communities in the following categories:

  • Charitable
  • Educational
  • Cultural
  • Recreational
  • Environmental

Organizations seeking funding must demonstrate fiscal responsibility, professional management and commitment to the Community.

Grants are awarded for new and innovative projects, to be completed within a specific time frame. Multi-year funding is possible, and is subject to periodic review. New and innovative programs may be funded for a limited time.

Capital projects may be considered.

The Community Foundation encourages the participation of other funding agencies, and might consider matching or challenge grants to stimulate such participation.

The Community Foundation does not consider applications for grants:

  • To support ongoing operating costs
  • To cover capital expenditures
  • In response to annual fundraising

  • To retire debt
